Building Resilience with Springwood Primary School

Laughology

Earlier this month, Sarah and Jim paid a visit (invited) to Springwood Primary School to introduce a hundred or so TAs to our FLIP-it Thinking toolkit.

Talk about unsung heroes: this team does an incredible job day in and day out. Sarah and Jim quickly found out that a typical day in the life of a TA would likely include metaphorical tornadoes, volcanoes and grizzly bears - all nicely messing up their best-laid plans. And that’s before leaving the house!

But despite (or perhaps because of?) the challenging nature of their roles, going above and beyond for the SEND children in their care, this group were more than ready to have a laugh and jump into chats about how they use humour and laughter to build their resilience at work and at home.

Covering everything from biscuits (to dunk or not to dunk) to who would win a race across the desert between Beyonce and Dr Who (Beyonce won this time), the group collaborated, laughed, and went away with a few extra tools up their sleeve for when the next tornado hits.

Sarah and Jim had a blast and look forward to watching this group’s Netflix special one day!

 Thanks for having us, Springwood!
