Wellbeing Keynote at High Peak Federation

Laughology

High Peak Federation brought together a cluster of schools from their local area to gift their staff a variety of wellbeing workshops (including Clubbercise!) and a keynote from Happy-Centred Schools on their INSET day.

Their executive headteacher made it clear this was a day off for teaching staff who had experienced a long term, and he wanted them to feel valued, going into their half-term break feeling upbeat with ideas on how to best care for their wellbeing.

In a packed school hall, this was not your ordinary keynote, where an expert stands behind a lectern and tells you what you should be doing. Kerry ran around the room (literally, she’s like a toddler in a woman’s body), giving out prizes and connecting with people, energising them and making them laugh.

People came away with huge smiles on their faces and simple hacks on how to give themselves and each other a DOSE of Happiness on a regular basis to maintain wellbeing and avoid burnout.

Their main takeaway was the recognition that this doesn’t have to wait for the holidays. Everyone can take responsibility for ‘little and often’ boosts to create a happy culture that keeps staff motivated and emotionally healthy, rather than ploughing through the term to ‘get to the end’.
