FLIP It thinking

Building resilience with humour to solve problems and tackle change.

A conference keynote, an INSET day or a cheeky twilight? All sessions can be adapted to suit the audience, the themes that are important to your school and the length of time we've got.

How confident are your team to solve problems and face a challenge? When you get ‘the call’ are they ready and willing to showcase their skills or does panic ensue, followed quickly by a suspiciously staff-shaped hole in your wall?

Well, don’t worry! It's all about helping people to develop their coping skills, pull on their positivity pants and rebuild that wall with the help of our FLIP-it Thinking toolkit (plastering not included).

FLIP-it Thinking is a simple but very effective positive psychology toolkit. It helps individuals and teams to be more resilient in challenging situations. By improving people’s mental agility and emotional intelligence they feel better able to cope and are happier, both at work and in life.

FLIP helps folks be proactively solution-focused; to spot a potential problem and, using their imagination, think of different ways to tackle it. It also teaches reflection – as people identify any unhelpful patterns of behaviour and develop healthier habits. It can act as a trigger for thinking differently. How can we FLIP this? And broken down, can be used to find solutions through Focus, Language, Imagination and Pattern Breaking.

Here’s what you can expect

  • Understanding the effects of humour and laughter for positive psychology and emotional intelligence
  • Knowing individual triggers for stress and anxiety and how to combat them
  • Opportunities to identify the challenges you want to FLIP and planning how to do that

What you’ll get by the end

  • Techniques to focus your mental energy, think positively and be proactive rather than reactive
  • Knowledge of how to break patterns of behaviour and thinking that cause stress
  • Tools to break those patterns and be more resilient
  • Ideas to develop individual humour and laughter strategies for positive interaction
  • Knowledge of how to help others, including children and young people, to FLIP their challenges too
‘One of the best training sessions I have had! Very enjoyable and engaging'.
