Growth Mindset with Marchant-Holliday School

Laughology

Victoria took a trip to The West Country to spend a day with staff members at the Marchant- Holliday School in Somerset. The day was focused on growth mindset thinking and how we can process information more effectively and creatively when we think that things will go well.

The staff were fantastic, very willing to share embarrassing stories, looked silly during some ‘new skill games’ and finally put lots of ‘thinking outside the box’ into a competition task of building paper aeroplanes.

By the end of the day, there was a real feeling of recognition as to how we can empower ourselves once we recognise our traditional patterns of thinking and seek to challenge them. If we can think creatively, then the world can change.

To follow in the footsteps of Marchant-Holliday School and explore thinking differently:

  • Think of something you strongly believe in. Take 2 minutes and try and argue for the other side of the argument

OR

  • Try a different radio station each day for a week.
