Creativity and innovation with Coleg Cambria

Laughology

Having already been to Coleg Cambria twice before, delivering FLIP- It Thinking and Growth Mindset, it was a privilege for Laughologist Dave Keeling to complete the Wrexham trilogy and return to run two 3-hour sessions for the business and administrator teams on creativity and innovation.

The main crux of the workshop was to encourage the participants to think, collaborate and explore situations, challenges and problem-solving in a more expansive way.

There was a lot to pack into the sessions, so Dave wasted no time delving into topics such as:

  • What is the difference between creativity and innovation?
  • Where do the best ideas come from, and what helps or hinders our creative juices?
  • Why it’s not all about having the answers
  • How to create a more creative environment
  • Vulnerability/ confidence - why perfectionism prevents risk-taking and why we’ve got confidence all wrong
  • Psychological safety – what we can do to enable a more innovative culture
  • Growth Mindset – how metacognition gives us control over our playfulness
  • Breaking the rules – to encourage expansive thinking.
  • Mixing ideas – how to make connections for innovation.
  • Reductive thinking – the art of thinking about thinking and creating action-based learning outcomes.

This playful session allowed those taking part to mess around, collaborate, explore and demystify the process of creativity and innovation and armed all those present with an action to move them forward in a future focussed way.
