The Amazing Brain - growth mindset at Berkhamstead School

Laughology
Laughologist, Dave Keeling, has enjoyed several visits to Berkhamstead School over the years, working with both staff and students. But none more so than when he recently introduced Year 10 to their amazing brain and the power that confidence, attitude and fun can have on their learning life.

Many children and young people believe their abilities and intelligence are static and outside their control. This is fixed or ‘wonky’ thinking. Once pupils understand this isn’t the case, and their brain is like a muscle that can grow, they gain confidence and their ability to learn increases.

Research shows that whether children adopt fixed or growth mindset thinking can make a huge difference in how they achieve, both in school and later in life.

The pupils at Berkhamstead School certainly took a lot from their session with Dave - and even wrote about their experience on their school website. Don’t believe us? Check out their thoughts in the article below.

If you’re interested in having Dave, or any other Laughologist, talk to your students about growth mindset and understanding how their amazing brains work, get in touch, and we can discuss our workshop with you. Our Doug - and his amazing brain - are looking forward to talking to you!
