Mental Wellbeing at King’s Oak Primary School
As schools enter the busy summer term, it can so often feel like you’ve reached the depths of your core to find the energy to conclude the academic year. It’s important, then, to remember to give yourself time to prioritise yourself - and find ways to connect with your team.
Therefore, when Kings Oak Primary School invited Victoria along for an afternoon to focus on mental health and wellbeing, it was useful for everyone to share their best practice tips. People explored how to concentrate the mind and recognise what thought processes are helping or hindering when we are faced with challenging times.
When looking at resilience, it’s important to consider the psychological, physiological, and philosophical makeup of our ability to face setbacks. There was plenty of discussion of schools and teachers as role models for passing on wellbeing tools to students so that they, too, can begin to shape their patterns of behaviour and thinking.
The school team shared some excellent stories and enjoyed experimenting with laughter and humour to think better and feel better. Each person was presented with a toolbox of methods to trigger positive thinking and prioritise self-care.
